Providing Vizsla Puppies with Proper Training & Activity

Vizsla puppies are attractive and possess distinctive features. They are also very intelligent and energetic. If you have the time and energy to devote to this breed and appreciate their characteristics, you may enjoy bringing one of these puppies home.

The ancestors of this breed were used as hunters for the Magyar tribe that lived in the region that is now Hungary. There are etchings from the 10th century that feature these dogs and they were esteemed by barons of the period. They are sporting dogs, so they require a lot of activity and exercise. Because of their high intelligence, they need discipline to thrive and they also respond well to training. They make outstanding companions to either an individual or for a family.

Very early in their lives, Vizsla puppies need to begin a program of training and socialization. Due to their high energy they require discipline, and if not challenged mentally and physically, they may turn to destructive behaviors. Focused training and learning combined with plenty of physical exercise are ideal for these pups.

As your puppy grows, start searching for areas such as parks where you can take it for exercise. Allow your pup to run unleashed for an hour a day, in 30 minute intervals, if more convenient. There is not enough room to run in a small, fenced-in yard, so it is essential to find enough space for running. Be cautious about over-exercising young puppies because this could damage the growth plates in their legs. However, as they grow, they are very ready to run.

Given their lively temperament and fine qualities, this breed can be a rewarding challenge. It is a wise decision to purchase the puppy through a reputable breeder who will guarantee its genetics and has exposed the pup to socialization techniques.

Your house may be the right home for one of these smart and energetic Vizsla puppies. They thrive in a household that is a combination of very disciplined and very active. As the pup grows and learns, you will be rewarded with an excellent canine companion.
